Louisiana Ranked in Top 3 Least Safe States During COVID Pandemic
A few things were used to get the calculations correctly done to rank the most and least safe states during the pandemic. Louisiana, unfortunately, ranks in the Top three least safest states.
Where Does Louisiana Rank in Safety During COVID
While there may be a surge of COVID cases in the area, throughout the United States, with around 67% of the population being vaccinated, it seems that cases are down since the start of the year, according to WalletHub.
But how do you get those numbers? As it turns out, there's a breakdown.
WalletHub compared the 50 states in the country, as well as Washington, D.C. across five key metrics. Those five key metrics are:
1) Vaccination Rate
2) Positive Testing Rate
3) Hospitalization Rate
4) Death Rate
5) Level of Community Transmission
Each key metric was graded on a 100-point scale. A score of 100 represents the safest conditions. They then determined the weighted average across all five key metrics to calculate the overall score for each state, and used the resulting scores to rank the states in order.
According to WalletHub, Louisiana is ranked third in the least safe states during the pandemic.
Note: Rankings are based on data available as of July 27, 2022.
