How does this kinda thing happen? A Louisiana man racked up his 8th DWI arrest after a Mardi Gras hit-and-run.

Mardi Gras night, an Abita Springs man, James T. Hittson, 48, was arrested for the eighth time for DWI after he took his friend's pick-up truck without her permission, got into an accident, and fled the scene.

He was booked with several charges including DWI 4th offense and above.

This dude doubled the amount of DWI's where they cut-off counting them. After the 4th one, they just add "and above."

Hittson borrowed a friend's 2006 Avalanche without permission. He brought it back with extensive damage. When the friend questioned him about it, he threatened her and a man who was present.

Officers were called to the scene, and arrested Hittson for DWI, hit-and-run, unauthorized use of a moveable, simple assault, and driving under a suspended license.

His prior seven DWI's started back in 1984 in Tangipahoa, Jefferson, and Tammany Parishes.
