Saturday at the Larose Civic Center, the Guinness World Record for largest pot of gumbo was set!

The team, led by Arlen Braud and Michelle Gallagher, set the world record with a whopping 5,800 pounds of gumbo! It was all part of Major League Eaters' World Record Gumbo Eating Competition.

Gerald Danos helped to build the pot that it was cooked in, which took about 700 hours of work.

The pot was filled with 1,500 pounds of shrimp, 500 pounds of crab, and 40 gallons of oysters! The gumbo was eaten by hundreds of visitors at the event.
