Louisiana Has One of the Hightest Divorce Rates in the Country
Yet another list Louisiana is towards the bottom.
The Bayou State has the country's fourth highest divorce rate, that according to new data.
According to census data compiled by the blog 24/7 Wall Street, 20.8 per 1,000 married people in Louisiana called it quits in 2016.
The only three states worse than Louisiana were Arkansas (23.4), Idaho (21.9), and Nevada (21.3).
On the flip side, the married folks in Massachusetts had the lowest divorce rate at 12.3 per 1,000 people followed by Hawaii at 12.6 per 1,000 people.
The report notes financial stress as a key factor in deterioration of marriages. Unfortunately, Louisiana has both a low median household income and a high unemployment rate compared to national figures.
