Latest ‘Logan’ Photo Teases a Heavy Metal Villain
It seems likely that we’ll get another Logan trailer before the end of the year, but until then, the official Instagram account for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine sequel is keeping us on our toes with plenty of intriguing images — like the latest, another black and white shot, this time of a mysterious metal arm. But who does this arm belong to? Pierce, or one of his Reavers? Or perhaps some still-unseen villain?
To be honest, if I didn’t know what movie this image was taken from, I’d want to know what sort of monster approved a gritty Inspector Gadget reboot:
That arm could easily belong to Pierce, played by Narcos star Boyd Holbrook. In the comics, Pierce is a former elite member of the Hellfire Club who goes on to form the Reavers, a militaristic group of genetically-modified cyborg mutants. Pierce himself is a cyborg, so that arm could be his, or it could be one of his robo-villains. For what it’s worth, Pierce’s arm looked quite different in the first trailer; this one looks more like a Reaver arm, also featured in the trailer.
In 2024, mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren't sure why. A government-type operation is turning mutant children into killing machines. From this, Logan emerges as a mentor to a mutant girl, who has two claws instead of his three.
Logan also stars Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Stephen Merchant as Caliban and Dafne Keen as Laura, aka X-23. Richard E. Grant is playing a mad scientist-type villain, previously rumored to be Mister Sinister, though recent reports suggest otherwise. The final Wolverine film hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
