Seth Fontenot's re-sentencing will take place this Thursday.

Fontenot was convicted of manslaughter and aggravated battery for shooting and killing 15-year-old Austin Rivault, and injuring two of Rivault’s friends. He received a sentence of three years in prison with all but 13 months suspended. Fontenot’s lawyer, Tommy Guilbeau, filed a motion last week to ask the court to “correct” the portion of Fontenot’s sentence that was suspended.

If you're confused about why Fontenot's lawyer would do this, click the button below for an explanation.

There is a billboard on Johnston St. that is aimed at Judge Edward Rubin, who oversaw the trial and sentencing, and who will be re-sentencing Fontenot on Thursday.

In case you're having trouble reading it, the billboard features a photo of Austin Rivault, and reads,

"Dear Judge Rubin,
PLEASE GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME!
-Austin Rivault
And Concerned Citizens Of Acadiana"
