John Tyler – 10th President Of The United States- Has Grandchildren That Are Still Alive
TRUTH! President John Tyler, or Johnny T as he will be referred to for the rest my writing this article, was born in 1790. That's 222 years ago. Two generations later - two grandson's - are still alive today...in 2012! How is this possible??? Check after the jump to find out!
Think of all the things going on when Johnny T was born. George Washington was giving the first State of the Union address. Thomas Jefferson was his Secretary of State. The nation was young! The Huffington Post reports:
"In Europe, a young upstart 2nd lieutenant named Napoleon Bonaparte was making a name for himself in the French Revolution.
And in the realm of technological innovation, one of the most successful innovators of that age, Harvey Kennedy, invented the shoelace.
In Tyler's life between 1790 and 1862, he fathered 15 children, and two of his grandsons are still living, reports mentalfloss.com.
With 15 children under his belt, Tyler became the most prolific American president, according to his genealogy.
Apparently, one of Tyler's children, Lyon Gardiner Tyler, born in 1853, fathered Lyon Gardiner Tyler Jr. in 1924 as well as Harrison Ruffin Tyler in 1928, as reported by sherwoodforest.org."
So, Johnny T's youngest son, Lyon, was born when he was 63 years old. Not to be outdone by his dear old dad, Lyon went and had his youngest son at the age of 75! And there's how we have not one but TWO grandson's of a man born over 200 years ago still living among us today! WOW!!!
