Louisiana Cities Seeing Circumcision Protests Popping Up Across State
LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL News) - It's not a topic that comes up often around the dinner table here in South Louisiana, mostly because it's something that most, if not all men here have in common. Circumcision is something that happens before we are old enough to remember it, and it's not really talked about, ever again. At least until we have our own children.
For one group of men, the trauma of circumcision has followed them their entire lives, and they are speaking out. They are called the "Bloodstained Men", and they are spreading their message in South Louisiana.
The Bloodstained Men & Their Friends are kicking off a 7-day protest tour starting Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in Lafayette at the corner of Kaliste Saloom and Ambassador Caffery Parkway from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. then a protest will be held in Lake Charles at McNeese Street and University Drive from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. On Thursday, the first protest is in Baton Rouge at Perkins Road and Bluebonnet Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. then a protest in Hammond at Morrison Boulevard and US Highway 190 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The group says that participants "will be peacefully educated by activists including victims of genital cutting. The public will be reminded that babies whose genitals are mutilated as infants grow up to be men who are speaking out about what was done to their penis before they could defend themselves."
They add that, "passersby will be faced with the basic, undeniable human rights argument against the routine genital cutting of children: the foreskin is a healthy, valuable body part that belongs solely and entirely to the child. It is unnecessary, cruel, damaging, and ethically unacceptable to remove a healthy body part from a person who is incapable of consent."
