Tsubaki Japanese Restaurant in Lafayette Closed Until ‘Further Notice’
Local favorite Tsubaki Japanese Restaurant, located at 3564 Ambassador Caffery, has temporarily closed its doors, leaving fans of its culinary offerings to wonder about its future. A sign posted on the establishment’s door announced the closure will last "until further notice."
Zoe Petijean was among the first to break the news to the Lafayette community. She posted a photo of the closure sign in the Foodies of Lafayette Facebook Group after attempting to eat lunch at the restaurant on Monday.
The sign read: “Temporary Closure - Monday, September 3, 2023 - FURTHER NOTICE. This is not a goodbye but see you soon! We will be coming back to changing the ownership on the business, rented, refreshed, and with the new management. We promise to amaze and excite you. It will be worth the wait! See you soon!”
The abrupt announcement has sparked varied reactions from the local foodie community. Linda Alleman commented on Petijean's post, stating, “they needed to do this.” Meanwhile, others have expressed hope that the restaurant's much-loved menu remains the same upon its return.
“I hope the menu stays the same because I like their food,” said Cassandra Stoute, another member of the Foodies of Lafayette Facebook Group. She was joined by Helen Delcambre, who voiced optimism about the restaurant's future, saying, “I hope they come back better.”
Long-time patron Rob Duresseau shared a personal lament about his favorite dishes, mentioning that he loved “their beef udon and eel roll” and describing them as “so good.”
