Asian Market Officially Opens In Former Lafayette Retail Store
Foodies across Acadiana from Crowley, Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, and beyond have been anticipating the opening of the massive new Asian Market.
The Asian Market has long outgrown their previous location off of Johnston Street at 110 Arnould Blvd near Picadilly and announced in 2022 that it would be expanding into the former Old Navy store in front of the Acadiana Mall.
New Asian Market Opens In Lafayette
As of Monday, January 6th, the new Asian Market located at 119 Tucker Drive has officially opened their doors to customers for the first time since the expansion.
Developing Lafayette reported that plans were initially made to build a brand-new building behind Old Navy. When Old Navy made their move to the Ambassador Town Center near Nordstrom Rack and Homegoods, they decided to remodel the existing building since it was now vacant. While these were not the original plans, the new space is a significant upgrade from their previous location that will serve them and their growing customer base well.
Locals Share First Looks Of New Lafayette Asian Market
One of the most asked questions in local Facebook groups for the past two years had to be, "When is the new Asian Market Opening?".
A member of the 'Foodies of Lafayette' group posted a photo of a sign on the door of the old Asian Market on December 24, 2024. The sign reads, "New Asian Market Soft Opening January 6th, 2025."
The comments were immediately flooded with excited foodies saying they were happy the wait was finally over.
David Conway shared a photo of the inside of the new location, showing just a glimpse into how many isles of products are available for shoppers to explore.
Philip Chu shared a video on Facebook showing their upgraded frozen section and a variety of kitchen items.
