Three Arrested for Allegedly Bringing Guns, Including an AK-47 to Louisiana Pre-K Graduation

Three people, including a 16-year-old, were arrested for allegedly bringing guns to a Pre-K graduation ceremony in South Louisiana.

Three people were arrested Pre-K graduation in St. John the Baptist Parish on Friday, May 19 after they were discovered to allegedly be carrying guns.

The arrests took place at Garyville-Mt. Airy Magnet School.

According to KLFY, one of the guns recovered had been converted to fully automatic, and another one of the guns found was an AK-47 assault rifle with a fully loaded magazine and a 20-round box of ammunition.

Officials say they received a report about the guns and quickly responded to the call as the school was put on lockdown.

While on campus, officers noticed two people sitting in a car outside of the school. As officers approached the vehicle, the two people inside the car reportedly got out and attempted to flee.

"Sheriff’s office officials said 24-year-old Nick Malancon and a 16-year-old boy, both of Reserve, were caught and arrested. Inside the car, investigators said they found an AK-47 with a loaded magazine and a 20-round box of ammunition.

It was discovered that the teenager was wearing an ankle monitor and was on house arrest for illegal drugs and weapon charges in St. Charles Parish."

Authorities say they found a second gun, which had been converted to fully automatic, underneath the car of another suspect.

As the second gun was found, a third gun was found inside the car of another suspect.

25-year-old Jaquanna Monique Cage, of LaPlace, 24-year-old Nick Malancon, of Reserve, and the 16-year-old were all arrested and face charges of possession of a gun on school property and more.
