Buc-ee’s Reveals Major News About Louisiana’s Closest Location

Louisiana fans of the roadside mega travel center Buc-ee's have been waiting patiently for the closest location of the iconic franchise to finally open. The good news is the Buc-ee's that is being built along I-10 just east of the Louisiana line appears to be ahead of schedule as far as construction is concerned.

Those who have driven by the soon-to-be Buc-ee's in Mississippi have noticed the work on the overpass that will serve the new store is well underway. You can even see the walls of the mega-convenience store are already in place and construction is well underway.

The new Buc-ee's in Mississippi will be located on I-10 at Menge Avenue. This location puts the Buc-ee's about 30 minutes east of the Louisiana line on I-10. Once the new location opens it will be the closest Buc-ee's to Louisiana.

However, there are plans in the works for a Buc-ee's travel center to be built on I-20 in north Louisiana near Ruston. That project is at least a year away with a projected opening in 2025.

The new Mississippi location of Buc-ee's is supposed to be 74,000 square feet of pure travel bliss. Those who stop in will not only find fuel for their vehicles from dozens of pumps. There will be complete meals as well as snacks and for those who are hard-core Buc-ee's fans there will be souvenirs.

What Will the Mississippi Gulf Coast Location of Buc-ee's Be Called?

Believe it or not, the moniker associated with the I-10 Buc-ee's along the Mississippi Gulf Coast has been a major topic of discussion. Would the location be known as Buc-ee's Gulfport? Will it be known as Buc-ee's Long Beach? Will the new Buc-ee's be known as Buc-ee's Pass Christian? Those three communities are the closest communities to the new location so which one will earn the honor of being on the official Beaver-based merchandise?

Neither.

A spokesperson for Buc-ee's has made it official the new store will be known as Buc-ee's Harrison County. It does make sense because Harrison County financed the $15 million needed for the new I-10 overpass so it does make fiscal and physical sense as well.

When Will Buc-ee's on I-10 in Mississippi Open?

Speculation is that the Buc-ee's Harrison County will open before Thanksgiving of 2024. The hope is that the facility will be operational for travelers who are making holiday jaunts across the northern Gulf Coast. Meanwhile, the chain plans to open stores in Florida, Kentucky, and Colorado this year too.
