It Won't Be Long Until We See Easter Candies Show Up All Over Stores.

There was one report that came out earlier this year that has many parents across the Bayou State worried about their children. There is a very popular Easter candy that has been linked to cancer, and the scary part is that children are most at risk.

Some of the Easter Candies That Kids Love, Contain a Dangerous Ingredient.

The ingredient that parents need to be on the lookout for is a known carcinogen. Unfortunately, this ingredient is still actively used by Just Born Quality Confections in many of their products, according to Consumer Reports.

Michael Hansen, PhD, a senior staff scientist for Consumer Reports said; “Parents should know that the purple and pink colored Peeps they may be putting in their kids’ Easter basket are made with an ingredient that is a known carcinogen,”. The candies that have been named by consumer reports that are putting kids in danger are; Hot Tamales, Peeps Hot Tamales, Marshmallow Chicks, Party Cake Peeps, Peeps Fruit Punch Marshmallow Chicks, and Peeps Wildberry Marshmallow Bunnies.

Simply Put, If You Want to Protect Your Children From Items That Have Been Proven to Cause Cancer You Need to Avoid Red Dye 3.

Want to hear a scary number? Almost 3,000 food products sold today contain the carcinogen, Red Dye 3. The scariest part is that these artificially colored candies that contain Red Dye 3, are almost always marketed to children. “The widespread use of Red Dye 3 is particularly concerning since it is found in many products marketed to children who are especially at risk of developing health problems from exposure. It’s time for the FDA to protect public health by getting Red Dye 3 out of our food.” said Hansen in a Consumer Report.

The Makers of Peeps Have Defended Their Products.

Just Born Quality Confections claims they comply with FDA regulations. They said in a statement: “We manufacture all our candies in compliance with FDA regulations, sourcing our ingredients and packaging exclusively from reputable suppliers who adhere to high quality and safety standards,”.
