‘Interstellar’ Trailer: Christopher Nolan Looks to the Stars for His Next Film
The first 'Interstellar' trailer attached itself to screenings of 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,' giving audiences their first teaser-y look at Christopher Nolan's post-'The Dark Knight Rises' directorial effort. As the film preps to take moviegoers into the farthest reaches of space, will it be the film to beat come next year? Watch the first trailer and decide for yourself.
The 'Interstellar' trailer doesn't reveal much in terms of exciting action sequences, but rather takes a quieter, almost reverent approach in unraveling its first look that echos the stylings of those first teasers for 'Man of Steel,' a film Nolan produced. Cut together with black-and-white segments of space shuttle launches, the footage directs our attention upwards as Matthew McConaughey's voice gives us hope for what's coming to theaters next November.
From the official plot description of 'Interstellar,' the film "chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage." There was also talk of the story taking place in a future where corn is the last crop humans are able to cultivate on Earth, and the trailer seems to support that detail.
While the first trailer may not seem like much, Legendary Studios has a lot of faith in Nolan and the film. The studio gave up its claim on the 'Batman vs. Superman' film during its split from Warner Bros. in order to keep its hold on 'Interstellar.'
Aside from McConaughey, 'Interstellar' features Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, John Lithgow, Casey Affleck, David Gyasi, Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Timothée Chalamet, Topher Grace, David Oyelowo, Ellen Burstyn and Michael Caine. The film is set for release on November 7, 2014.
