According to katc.com, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that the speed limit on rural portions of I-49 in Evangeline and St. Landry parishes will be raised from 70 mph to 75 mph. The new speed limit will go into effect in the next 2 weeks.

The new speed limit will be in effect on the entire section of I-49 in Evangeline Parish. In St. Landry Parish, the new speed limit will be in effect from the Evangeline Parish line to approximately 0.5 miles south of the U.S. 167/La. 744 interchange.
