A student from Beau Chene High School in St. Landry Parish was killed in a crash involving a school bus, according to Louisiana State Police.

Nathan Pike of KPEL 96.5 says:

The accident happened on Hwy. 357 south of Hwy. 190, state police spokesperson Stephen Hammons said. Hammons said 17-year-old Nonchalaunt Guillory of Opelousas was driving her car south on Hwy. 357, and when she entered the curve, she drove off the right side, causing her to overcorrect to the left. Guillory crossed the centerline, and her car was hit by the school bus on its right front side.

Hammons said Guillory was not wearing a seat belt, and she was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where she died from her injuries.

No students were on the bus, and the driver received only minor injuries.
