Furloughed Lafayette Man and Friend’s Food Truck Dream Comes True
I love it when something good can come from a tough situation. We all know the global pandemic has wreaked havoc on so many with lay-offs and furloughs. According to KATC, best friends, Kennan Brown and Brandon Brown decided it was the perfect time to make a dream come true after Kennan was furloughed due to the pandemic.
Brandon and Kennan both love to cook and for a long time, they dreamed of going into business together and starting a food truck. After months of being laid off from an oilfield job, their food truck dream became a reality.
Oh, the irony in the name. ‘AwwShucks’, I lost my job. But, speaking of shucks, at least I can chargrill some delicious oysters. Kennan told KATC, Brandon is from New Orleans where he learned out to chargrill oysters. He said Brandon showed him how to do it. Kennan said after playing around with them people started telling him he should sell them.
Brandon and Kennan have no restaurant experience. Now, they’re serving chargrilled oysters at their newly opened food truck in Lafayette.
Try. You won't know until you try. For so long I talked myself out of trying. When you get somebody in your corner, like Brandon was for me, it was more reassurance and positivity I needed to hear. – Kennan Brown
AwwShucks specializes in oysters but will be adding more to the menu. They plan on opening several times a month. Follow them on their Facebook page and give them a try.
They are also helping the community. According to their Facebook page, they donated meals to victims of Hurricane Laura. Good things happen to good people.
We wish these guys nothing but the best!
