If you have had the pleasure of seeing the film Gravity this year, there might have been one scene that might have gotten you a little confused. If you haven't seen the film, I suggest you do not carry on pass this point, for there are spoilers.

During the film, Sandra Bullock's character, Dr. Ryan Stone, is in a powerless Soyuz spaceship and is trying to radio Houston for help. She gets a response from a Inuit fisherman from Greenland named Aningaaq. He doesn't speak English and refers to Stone as "Mayday". Watch the short film below:

The short film, which was written and directed by Jonas Cuaron, son of Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron and co-writer of Gravity, was originally meant to be included as an extra on the Blu-Ray release of Gravity, but it now has been submitted for consideration for an Academy Award for Best Short Film.

Aningaaq could make history if Gravity is nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, which it is sure looking like it will be.
