Dream Theater have received their second overall Grammy nomination. The progressive metal giants were nominated for the golden gramophone in the 2014 Best Metal Performance category for 'The Enemy Inside.' In response to the nomination, Dream Theater have released a statement to show their appreciation.

For the 2012 Grammy Awards, Dream Theater were given their first ever nomination for 'On the Backs of Angels,' the lead since from Dream Theater's 2011 full-length, 'A Dramatic Turn of Events.' However, Foo Fighters won the Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance for 'White Limo,' and Foo frontman Dave Grohl even admitted he felt bad for Dream Theater. “I feel so bad for the Dream Theater guys, because they actually had a metal performance, we didn’t."

Earlier today (Dec. 9), Dream Theater showed their gratification for the 2014 Grammy nomination via Facebook:

We are all incredibly honored and excited about being nominated for a Grammy this year! News of our first nomination two years ago was amazing and now to be nominated for a second time is just mind blowing! We’re so proud to be included in such an awesome group of bands and extremely grateful to all the academy members who voted for us. To us the acknowledgment, affirmation and recognition of progressive music by the Grammys is especially meaningful and rewarding for us. Best of luck to all the nominees--and thank you once again!!

Along with Dream Theater's 'The Enemy Inside,' Anthrax's cover of AC/DC's 'TNT,' Black Sabbath's 'God is Dead?,' Killswitch Engage's 'In Due Time' and Volbeat's 'Room 24,' which features King Diamond, are also nominated in the 2014 Best Metal Performance category.

Dream Theater also used the opportunity to tease a North American tour that will kick off in March. Dates will be announced shortly. In the meantime, the band is set to embark on a European trek on Jan. 15. See the dates for that jaunt here.
