Louisiana music icon Malcolm John Rebennack Jr., also known as Dr. John, recorded what was to be his final album near the end of 2018. The album was partially recorded at New Orleans' Esplanade Studios, and currently has no title or release date. According to Rolling Stone it was produced by Shane Theriot for the beloved Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame member who died on June 6th at age 77.

The album is greatly inspired by traditional country music, and will feature several country classics, like 'Old Time Religion', a duet with Willie Nelson, 'Guess Things Happen That Way' (Johnny Cash), 'Funny How Time Slips Away', and a couple of Hank Williams Sr. songs - 'Ramblin' Man' and 'I'm So Lonesome I could Cry'. The album will also include a duet with Rickie Lee Jones called 'I Walk On Gilded Splinters'. We can't wait till this comes out, and are so glad that we get to hear some final moments of musical genius from one of Louisiana's true treasures.
