Here's something that you may or may not know. It's worth saying, though, as there's obviously been enough people that were amazed at this tactic for this one angler to make note.

Arthur Borchgrevink is an angler that is out catching fish two to three days a week. He loves to bring home some of his day's work to cook and eat. One kind of fish he doesn't eat, unless he does this one thing when he catches them, is red fish.

With red fish season now open, here's what Borchgrevink does that he claims makes red fish taste better.

Stick your thumb, or a wooden stake (like a vampire hunter!) into the vitals of every legal red fish that you catch. This will cause the fish to bleed out.

"It makes a mess in the ice chest, but all of the blood of the fish is gone, and you don't have any fishy, bloody taste in your meat. The meat will be more white — really white when you grill it," he said.

If you're looking for the vitals of a red fish they can be found through a soft spot just aft of the fish's pectoral fins.
