October 3rd will mark the 18th anniversary of Deftones first album, Adrenaline. Since then, Deftones have grown to be loved by many with their energetic live shows, as well as their mellow to in your face tracks from all of their albums. When they played a sold-out show at the Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, La. they absolutely did not disappoint.

This was, surprisingly, Deftones first time playing in Baton Rouge. They were in support of their critically acclaimed album, Koi No Yokan. The venues that they have been playing on this tour have been significantly bigger. However, Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, an 800 capacity venue, knew what a treasure this show would be when they booked it.

People lined up as early as 5pm outside of the venue, even though doors didn't open until 7pm. While many love to be as close as they can to the stage, there really isn't a single bad spot to stand or sit at Varsity Theatre. Everyone was going to enjoy this show.

They started the show with the title track of their last album, Diamond Eyes. You can watch that awesomeness here:

They played new tracks 'Tempest', 'Rosemary', 'Poltergeist', 'Swerve City' and threw in many fan favorites like 'Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)', 'Headup', and the immensely popular 'Change (In The House Of Flies). They even played the track 'Riverère' dedicated to bassist Chi Cheng, who is still in a coma after a car accident in 2008. They closed with the old-school favorite, '7 words'. If and when they come back to the area, DO. NOT. MISS. THIS. SHOW. Singer Chino Moreno will be 40 this coming June, but his stage presence and showmanship are equal to those more than half his age. There's still stage dives involved, and the wisdom of keeping a crowd (and themselves) entertained for the full 90+ minute set.

Here's some pics from the show:
