Before their sold-out show at Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, we were lucky enough to be able to sit down and chat with Deftones sampler/DJ/keyboardist Frank Delgado and bassist Sergio Vega. They explain the origins of the title of their new album 'Koi No Yokan' and more.

They’ve been enjoying the hell out of the tour so far, which at this point has been a 6 week jaunt that started in the UK and made its way state-side.

When asked about how the name for the new album, Koi No Yokan, came about, Delgado said, "I think there was a couple different things tossed around, but [singer] Chino [Moreno] came with this one and kinda tossed it to all of us and we kinda liked it, so...It seemed to tie in pretty well. The whole thing about it, it doesn't really have a translation in English I guess so...we kinda like that. It sounds cool, it looks cool."

One thing I found very cool was when I asked about if the band had a certain ritual they do before they take the stage. Sergio answered, "We have like routines more than rituals. Like, listen to music, um, like right before we play we all just get together and listen to like a certain playlist and get kinda stoked and it's the same thing that's playing in the house. So, you feel like you're kinda, [it] starts to bring everything together for the start of the show."

For the rest of the interview, including what their favorite song to perform live is, their most embarrassing moment on stage, or if they ever thought about covering a song by Quicksand (Sergio's other band), check out the full interview:
