Deftones’ Chino Moreno + Former Isis Members Complete First Palms Album
Deftones frontman Chino Moreno is a man of many projects and his latest finds him recording with several former members of the band Isis in a new group called Palms. The band has confirmed the completion of their self-titled debut album and the disc is now due June 25 through Ipecac Recordings.
Moreno is joined by the band by Jeff Caxide, Aaron Harris and Bryant Clifford Meyer. They've been working on new music during breaks in Moreno's schedule over the past year, with Harris handling mixing duties and all of the band members serving as producers.
The Deftones frontman stated last fall about the project, "They recorded this music a long time ago, almost a year ago, so musically it’s been its own thing and I only got asked to do vocals on it not too long ago by my buddy Aaron [Harris], he’s the drummer. It’s not really a thing I rush on. Any of the projects I do, I don’t have to do them. I do them strictly because it’s fun to make music with friends and to do that."
Moreno recently took to his Mixlr account, where he played an early, unmastered version of the band's song 'Tropics,' which will be part of the upcoming disc. The group recently launched an official website, but at present only a splash page with a photo and links to their social network accounts is all that is part of it.
