Death Star Petition Gets 25,000 Signatures – Requires A Response From White House

So, there was a petition put up on the White House website for the US to start construction of a Death Star, a la Star Wars by 2016. Apparently after you get 25,000 signatures on one of those, the president's administration has to acknowledge and respond to it. That happened. Keep reading for more details.

The petition reads:

“By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense.”

 

It's pointed out by Yahoo! via Inquisitr:

...the estimated cost of building an honest-to-goodness Death Star is roughly $852 quadrillion, about 13,000 times the gross domestic product of the entire Earth. 

 

While I admit, this is just plain silly, and obviously will not be taken seriously...I kinda wish we could have our own Death Star!
