VH1's Emmy winning series Rock Docs returns and will be airing two of the best documentaries about music put out in recent years (purely my opinion, but even if you don't like the band(s) they are still worth a watch). The Dave Grohl directed Sound City as well as Cameron Crowe's Pearl Jam Twenty will be shown! So if you haven't gotten your hands on either of these, they will be coming to a television set near you! keep reading for details.

About Sound City

There, some of music's greatest albums were made by the likes of Tom Petty,Stevie NicksMick FleetwoodNeil Young and Trent Reznor, among others, all of whom are interviewed along with Grohl himself. His time at Sound City -- recording Nirvana's 1991 breakthrough album Nevermind, changed the path of his life forever. Also probed is the human element of music-making and the lost art of analog recording.

About Pearl Jam Twenty

Pearl Jam 20, directed by Fast Times at Ridgemont Highscreenwriter Cameron Crowe, will premiere on Oct. 12. The second doc in the series chronicles the band's formation, tumultuous events of their early years and their rise to stardom, after which they decided to step back from fame.

Bold and loud, the film features over 1,200 hours of rare and never-before-seen footage of Pearl Jam and highlights the power that uncompromising artists have as well as how they translate that to their music.

Sound City will premiere on Saturday August 17 at 9pm Central. Pearl Jam 20 will air October 12.

*I'd like to point out that I think there's a little error as I don't think there's 1,200 hours of footage in the PJ20 doc. That would mean that VH1 would be showing that documentary for over 7 weeks...straight. Plus commercial breaks, that's gotta be close to 9 weeks!

Jokes of course. I can't wait to watch'em!
