Crowley Authorities Seek Scam Artist Posing As Detective

A scam artist is calling Crowley businesses posing as a police detective.

The scam artist, who's number is blocked, calls area businesses pretending to be a police detective in the department's fraud unit who needs their credit card information.

Police Chief K.P. Gibson says that detectives will never call over the phone to gain sensitive information, especially credit card numbers.

Attempting to fraudulently obtain financial information is a felony.
