A Church Point police officer was injured on Sunday after trying to stop two men wanted in connection with recent shootings.

The driver and passenger each had felony warrants from previous shootings in the Church Point area.

As the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, a chase began. During the pursuit, the suspect's vehicle hit the officer's vehicle, sending it into a ditch where it flipped onto its side.

The unnamed Church Point officer was transported to Lafayette General with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the suspect's vehicle was arrested and booked on several felony charges.

Church Point Police say they'll have more information later as the incident remains under investigation.
