There are Catacombs Under Indianapolis – This is What They Look Like
Did you know that running underneath central Indiana are some rather eerie catacombs? It's true, and you can even tour them.
Catacombs Under Indianapolis
Typically, when you think of catacombs you think of Europe. My mind instantly goes to places like France, and I think about the Paris Catacombs. While the catacombs under Indianapolis aren't quite as old, and they aren't home to any bones (that we know of), they still have a lot of history running through them.

See the Indianapolis Catacombs For Yourself
You can actually see the catacombs that run below Indianapolis if you want. Indianapolis City Market and Indiana Landmarks offer tours throughout the catacombs.
In partnership with Indianapolis City Market, Indiana Landmarks offers guided tours of an unusual site hidden from public view. These tours explore the Catacombs, a Roman-looking expanse of brick arches beneath the outdoor Whistler Plaza of City Market. Along the way, guides share stories of two historic buildings, City Market and Tomlinson Hall.
There are a few tour dates left in 2022 if you're interested in seeing the catacombs yourself.
