Cat Caught Trying to Smuggle Contraband into Prison
Generally, it's impossible to get cats to do anything on command, let alone smuggle contraband. But a kitty in Brazil was recently detained for attempting to sneak nearly a dozen items into a prison in the northeastern town of Arapiraca.
According to authorities, the cat, who was often seen walking in and out of the prison gate and who may have been raised by inmates, was detained after they noticed something unusual about him.
Turns out, the cat had two saws, two concrete drills, a headset, a memory card, a cell phone, three batteries and a mobile phone charger taped tightly to its body. Officials are now to trying to determine which of the 263 inmates the contraband was meant for.
But they say doing so could be difficult because their only witness to the crime isn't talking. "It's tough to find out who's responsible for the action as the cat doesn't speak," said a police spokesman.
As for the cat, he's now doing hard time at a local animal shelter.
