A 25-year-old Baton Rouge woman is behind bars after her 3-year-old toddler tested positive for high levels of cocaine.

Megan Gaylord was arrested for cruelty to a juvenile when police were called to an apartment for a disturbance involving Gaylord. When police arrived, they described that Gaylord's apartment was covered with dog feces, spoiled food, trash, dirty diapers and other unknown substances. Police could not complete the investigation because of the poor conditions of the apartment.

Child Services were brought in about the living conditions and Gaylord and her son were taken to a hospital for observation and treatment after officers detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from both the Gaylord and her child. The child tested positive for high levels of cocaine and Gaylord tested positive for THC, cocaine and many other substances.

Gaylord was then booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and is being held on a $7,500 bond and Child Services took custody of her son.
