It should go without saying, but the red band trailer for Bad Santa 2 is NSFW — or for life, really, but that depends on your level of sensitivity. If there was any doubt that the sequel could be as profane and gleefully repulsive as its predecessor, the latest trailer should restore your optimism…or cynicism, as it were. Never fear, Billy Bob Thornton’s unsavory Santa has returned, and he’s just as foul as ever.

Despite the absence of director Terry Zwigoff and original screenwriters Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, Bad Santa 2 looks just as devious as the first film and packed with twice as much inappropriate humor (that honestly seems like an understatement). Thornton is joined by fellow returning cast members Tony Cox (as his partner-in-crime, Marcus) and Brett Kelly (as the kid, who weirdly looks exactly the same). New additions include Kathy Bates as Willie’s mom, Christina Hendricks and Ryan Hansen.

That trailer doesn’t offer much in the way of plot, so here’s the official synopsis:

Fueled by cheap whiskey, greed and hatred, Willie teams up once again with his angry little sidekick, Marcus, to knock off a Chicago charity on Christmas Eve. Along for the ride is ‘the kid’ – chubby and cheery Thurman Merman, a 250-pound ray of sunshine who brings out Willie’s sliver of humanity. Mommy issues arise when the pair are joined by Willie’s horror story of a mother, Sunny Soke. A super butch super bitch, Sunny raises the bar for the gang’s ambitions, while somehow lowering the standards of criminal behavior. Willie is further burdened by lusting after the curvaceous and prim Diane, the charity director with a heart of gold and libido of steel.

Bad Santa 2 was directed by Mark Waters (Mean Girls) and written by Johnny Rosenthal, Doug Ellin (Entourage) and Shauna Cross (Whip It), and hits theaters on November 23.
