Amon Amarth Unveil New Album Title, Artwork + Mayhem Festival Off-Date Shows
Amon Amarth are one step closer to their next release, as the band revealed the title and the album art for their upcoming disc. 'Deceiver of the Gods' arrives in June via Metal Blade Records. In addition, the group has moved to fill in some of the space between Mayhem Festival performances by announcing a handful of "off-date" shows for July and August.
The band's artwork (seen at the left) for 'Deceiver of the Gods' portrays an epic battle, with the group explaining in their Reddit posting, "The cover depicts the last battle between the Gods and Loki who arrives at Vigridr field accompanied by the army of the dead during Ragnarok, the end of the world. We hope you enjoy it."
The disc was produced by Andy Sneap, best known for his work with Megadeth, Machine Head and Exodus. The album is also notable for its guest appearance by former Candlemass vocalist Messiah Marcolin.
As for the band's summer plans, they'll be one of the featured main stage acts on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. The group just revealed a number of off-date performances as well, with some of the shows serving as co-headlining dates with Children of Bodom and other shows they'll provide support for Rob Zombie. The newly added "off-date" shows can be seen below. Tickets for most of the dates are on-sale now.
