Amazon Bans Confederate Flag Merchandise, But Still Sells Nazi Paraphernalia? [Opinion]
OK, I'm am not here to spark debate over the whole confederate flag issue. To be honest, I'm just not smart enough to effectively argue that topic one way or the other. However, I am smart enough to notice a big fat pile of hypocrisy when I see one.
Amazon.com, along with a number of other stores, has removed all confederate flag merchandise from its site amidst the current nationwide controversy. Again, not here to say whether that's a good decision or not. It's been removed because it has been deemed offensive and insensitive. Now, you could troll through Amazon and find countless items for sale that might offend you. What IS still for sale on amazon.com is Nazi paraphernalia. Yep, you can't buy a model car of the General Lee from "The Dukes Of Hazzard" but you can get your swastika and SS t shirts and flags.
Am I nuts, or is this just wrong? No matter your stance on the rebel flag issue, this seems like a simple case of "What's good for the goose is good for gander".
For the record, I'm not a fan of banning anything. To each his own. Don't tell me what to do, and I won't tell you what to do. I'd rather have this stuff available to whomever wants it. That way, I can tell exactly who I'm dealing with.
There's also the issue of, where does this end? Like I stated earlier, you can find all types of items that might offend you if you dig around. That being said, to have Nazi hate items for sale, items that represent the killing of over 6 million people, after you've banned all confederate flag items just seems wrong.
Actually, it just seems...stupid. But what do I know?
