ALDI Christmas Advertisement has ‘X-Rated’ Twist? You Tell Us
ALDI Supermarkets have unveiled a new Christmas advertisement and I must admit, it could leave you with a rosy red glow on your cheeks that would challenge the cheeks of Santa on a cold Christmas Eve. The international grocery store chain, which has recently made inroads into the Lafayette market unveiled the advertisement in the United Kingdom and I have to admit, it's quite clever.
The holiday commercial is a take-off on the now classic Christmas movie, Home Alone. In that movie, a family leaves home for a holiday jaunt to Paris only to discover as they are on the plane that they've left an important member of the family behind. You can hear that picture below, can't you?
The ALDI commercial basically tells the same story with the exception that instead of Macaulay Culkin and humans, the characters are carrots.
ALDI takes a lot of pride in its produce department and they should, it's one of the better ones I have ever experienced. But, I've never seen the "talking live-action" carrot section in my neighborhood store.
The spot is masterfully done and I am sure the part of the commercial that has raised eyebrows was done on purpose. Hey, sex sells, right? Even if you're selling carrots. Take a look at the ALDI advertisement and tell me if you can spot the "naughty" moment.
If you missed it, the "interesting part" happens at about the 1-minute mark. And no, I don't think that's where a snowman has his nose and I think ALDI put that carrot there on purpose.
Needless to say, those who are easily offended are just that. While the rest of us appreciate the "over the heads of the kids" humor. It's a great commercial and ALDI is a fine store.
They just announced a Grand Opening of a location on Louisiana Avenue in Lafayette. I think I will go by and see if I can find Kevin, maybe I could take him out for a pair of snowballs, you know, one for him and one for me, get your mind out of the gutter.
