The crash was caught on surveillance footage, and you can see it here.

The motorcyclist pulls up to the corner of Carnation St. and US 190 West. As he waits to turn onto the highway, an 18-wheeler turns at an excessive speed, runs head-on into the motorcycle, hits a power pole, and ends up in a ditch.

The Michigan truck driver, 56-year-old Timothy Duimstra, is suspected of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Police arrived on the scene to find the motorcyclist in a grassy area alongside the road, a downed power line, and the truck in a ditch with the motorcycle pinned underneath it.

Duimstra was arrested and booked on first degree negligent injury, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated charges.

The motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital where he is in critical condition, but expected to survive.
