Aron Ralston, the hiker who had to amputate his arm when it got trapped by a boulder and whose story is told in the film '127 Hours', has been arrested on domestic violence charges and is in a Denver jail right now.

He was arrested on Saturday night and faces charges of one count of assault and one count of wrongs to minors. He was arrested along with Vita Shannon, who along with Ralston, is facing the same charges.

Back in 2003, while hiking in Blue John Canyon in Utah, he became trapped by a dislodged boulder in a slot canyon. his only way of surviving the accident was to amputate his arm from the boulder on the fifth day. The incident was told in the film '127 Hours', directed by Academy Award winning director Danny Boyle and starring James Franco as Ralston.

His hearing is scheduled today at 1 PM at the Denver County Courthouse.
