The MMA event will be held this Saturday, January 27th.

Cypress Bayou Casino will be holding its first ever MMA event for World Fighting Championships 82!

Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel will host World Fighting Championships 82 on Saturday, January 27th. Doors open at 7 p.m. and first fight bell at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $30 for general admission and are available for purchase at Ticketmaster.com or day of fight in the Pavilion beginning at 3 p.m. The main and co-main fights both feature tough, local matchups between some of Louisiana's highest-level MMA talent. In the main event, former UFC fighter Aaron Phillips (5-3) takes on Andy Brossett (2-1).

“I can't wait to get inside the cage again,” said Phillips of the matchup with Brossett. Phillips has been training in Thailand for this event. His hands will be full with the up and coming talent in Andy Brossett. “All this work comes down to one night! January 27th will be the day I rise up and shake the MMA world,” exclaimed Brossett.

This area has some of the best MMA talent in the south, and this main event stars some of the highest-level local talent in the area. There is going to be talent coming from all the great gyms like Gladiators Academy, JM Modern Jiu Jitsu, Mid City New Orleans, Beat2Sleep, Baton Rouge UFC Gym, and Headkicks MMA where main event star Aaron Phillips trains and coaches.

The public and media are invited to attend the weigh-in for WFC 82.

The weigh-ins will be Friday, January 26th at 5:30 at Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel
