Carlee Leifkes and Lucas Unger got engaged this past weekend on Halloween. However, a simple, traditional diamond engagement ring was not on the menu. Lucas gave his bride-to-be an engagement ring set with one of his wisdom teeth from when he was younger.

The couple prides themselves on being nontraditional, so having an engagement ring set with a wisdom tooth was right up the young couple's alley.

From buzzfeed.com -

When we’d spoken about it, I’d said that diamonds are so overrated,” Leifkes told BuzzFeed News. “My birthstone is a diamond. I don’t need one to prove how much someone loves me. He’d already moved all the way from Canada to do that!

When Lucas spoke to his father about the idea, he told him the two decided together against having a traditional diamond ring. To that, his father's perfect response was "You’ve never been traditional! Why start now?!’”

The couple are set to be married later this month in Las Vegas, and I wish them the best of luck!

Sure, it's a very different way of going about an engagement, and it may not be how you would approach it, and that's OK. Everyone marches to a slightly different drummer, and that's what helps to keep life from being completely, pathetically boring, right? The couple are gushingly over the moon with each other, and the bride-to-be is so happy with ring. Isn't that the only thing that truly matters?

For the record, at first I wasn't completely on board with the idea, but after some thought, I think it's one the more completely genuine gestures of commitment I've seen in a while. Besides, it's a pretty great looking tooth, is it not?

And, I think the ring is fantastic.

So incredibly excited to marry my best friend, the man who knows that his wisdom tooth means more to me than a diamond....
