Portions of southeast Louisiana and southwest Mississippi will be under a Winter Weather Advisory later tonight. That advisory does not include the Acadiana area but that doesn't mean you won't hear the tick tick tick of sleet falling during the nighttime hours.

The forecast low temperature for the Lafayette area should remain well above freezing tonight. However, the temperature in the upper reaches of the atmosphere will certainly be below the freezing mark. Sleet is likely to fall from those higher altitudes and fall mixed with light rain during the nighttime hours and early morning hours of Friday.

Other than wet roads forecasters don't think that this weather system will pose any travel troubles in the immediate area. However, bridges and over passes can sometimes hold accumulations of frozen precipitation and that could make travel to the central and southeastern portions of the state a little tricky.
