The Golden Gloves are being held in Lafayette, and you could go for FREE!

The National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions kicks off at the Cajundome Convention Center Monday, May 1st. Prelims will run through Friday, May 5th, leading up to the main event that will take place in the Cajundome on Saturday, May 6th at 7pm.

See the future stars of the boxing world at the Cajundome Convention Center when the best face off at the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions.

Previous Golden Glove champions include some of the best the sport has ever seen, including Joe Louis (1934), Muhammed Ali (1959, 1960), Sugar Ray Leonard (1973), “Marvelous” Marvin Hagler (1973), Michael Spinks (1974), Thomas “Hitman” Hearns (1977), Johnny Tapia (1984), Mike Tyson (1984), Evander Holyfield (1984), Oscar De La Hoya (1989) and Jermain Taylor (1998, 1999). Many of the all-time greats got their start in Golden Gloves.

The Golden Gloves program has led the way in promoting amateur boxing in the United States and has produced the majority of competitors for Americas boxing teams in the Pan-Am and Olympic Games. The 2017 National Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament of Champions is being sponsored by Townsquare Media, the Louisiana Governors Council on Physical Fitness & Sports, the Lafayette Convention & Visitors Commission, the Lafayette Consolidated Government, CAJUNDOME and the Ragin Cajun Boxing Club. All evening bouts will be held at the CAJUNDOME Convention Center beginning at 6 p.m. nightly from May 1-4 and at 7 p.m. in the CAJUNDOME Convention Center on Friday, May 5th. The championship bout will be in the CAJUNDOME arena at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 6th.
