Louisiana State Police Troop I Spokesman Brooks David tells KPEL that what began as a chase of a vehicle by Carencro Police ended up with four state police cars being rammed this morning.

One trooper had minor injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital.

This incident began around 7:30 this morning when police began to pursue a driver who was driving erratically.  The driver left the interstate at the Duson Exit (Exit 92) and then tried to get back onto the Interstate in that same area when state police decided for the safety of the motoring public they would have to stop the driver.

Trooper used what David called "legal intervention", and rammed the car to make sure he could not proceed back onto I-10 and put motorists in danger.

Four state trooper cruisers were damaged.

The driver, David says, was highly impaired and was taken into custody.
