Virus Outbreak Forces Cruise Ship To Return Home Early
It's one of the few times you will ever hear about people going on a cruise and losing weight on the trip. An outbreak of Norovirus aboard Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas has cut short a holiday cruise for several hundred passengers.
According to reports over 277 passengers had confirmed cases of the virus. The illness aboard the ship became so severe that the Government of Jamaica would not allow passengers from the Oasis of the Seas to disembark during a scheduled stop at Falmouth.
Just a day before making the decision to cancel the cruise and return to port Royal Caribbean sent this letter to passengers.
Officials with Royal Caribbean said that all passengers on the Oasis of the Seas would be issued a full refund. The vessel will return to Port Canaveral Florida where it will be disinfected and then inspected before its next scheduled sailing.
