Not sure about you, but I have been LOVING Sam Dunn's "Metal Evolution" series on Vh1. The guy is a great film maker, and he knows his music, no question about it. What Sam has been doing with his series is exploring the different branches of Metal, finding out how they got started, and ultimately determining each genres contribution to the world of Heavy Metal. From Muddy Waters to Black Sabbath to The Mc5 to Motley Crue to Lamb Of God, Sam has meticulously investigated the world of heavy music.

This Saturday night's episode turns it's focus on the early-‘90s upsurge of grunge and alternative music and subsequent demise of hair metal and glam. With interviews including Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil, Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell and Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore — discussing the rise of grunge and how the scene destroyed the Hair Metal and Galm scene of the 80's.
