Vermilion Parish Deputy’s Killer Pleads Guilty
The Abbeville man accused of killing Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Deputy Allen Bares Jr. in 2014 has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
Our news partner, KATC, reported 22-year-old Quintylan Richard will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Richard pleaded guilty Thursday, exactly two years after he shot and killed off-duty deputy Allen Bares. Barres approached Richard, and accomplice Baylon Taylor, after the two men had allegedly burglarized a nearby house.
Taylor also faces a first-degree murder charge in the case.
