Actor Michael Showers, who had roles on such shows as "Breaking Bad" and "Treme", has been found dead in the Mississippi River just blocks from New Orleans' French Quarter. The New Orleans Police Department believe that he had been floating there for at least two days. An autopsy is still ongoing. He was 45.

He is best known for playing Capt. John Guidry on the HBO Original Series "Treme". He also had a small part on AMC's ground-breaking series "Breaking Bad". He also appeared on "The Vampire Diaries" and in films like "I Love You Phillip Morris", "The Tree Of Life", and most recently "Colombiana" starring Zoe Saldana. He was to reprise his role of Capt. Guidry on the third season of "Treme" which begins filming this fall.

Treme creator David Simon has issued this statement on Showers' death:

"Michael Showers was a fine actor who contributed his talents to our drama in the warmest and most professional way. We enjoyed his work—and working with him. Going forward, we're going to miss having him as part of our production. All of which seems of little import in light of the loss of a man's whole life, and what that loss truly means to him, his family, his friends. Our respect and condolences go to them, especially."
