Ahead of this week's big Saints-Vikings game, New Orleans Saints punter Thomas Morstead and his foundation, What You Give Will Grow, are teaming up with Vikings cornerback Marcus Sherels to raise funds to support Best Christmas Ever families in Minnesota and the Greater New Orleans area.

Best Christmas Ever is a non-profit organization that works with community partners to lift up families that have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own to give them a Best Christmas Ever.

Morstead and Sherels are encouraging fans to support this cause by making a donation at bce.wygwg.org.

After this weekend's game, the winning team's market will receive 60% of all donations to its respective market, while 40% will go to the remaining area.

There is a bit of a backstory here. You may recall last year for the heartbreaking last-second loss in the playoff game in Minnesota, Morstead came back on the field for the NFL-mandated extra point conversion when most of the Saints players had left the field. He did so with torn cartilage to his ribs that he suffered earlier in the game in a collision with Sherels.

A Vikings fan made a post on Reddit encouraging Vikings fans to recognize Morstead's sportsmanship by donating to his What You Give Will Grow foundation. After fans began donating, Morstead announced that donations received for the week would be donated to the Children's Minnesota Child Life Program.

More than $220,000 was collected and during Super Bowl week in Minneapolis, alongside Sherels, Morstead and What You Give Will Grow presented a check for $221,143 to Children's Minnesota Child Life program.
