There’s A Clerks & View Askew Reunion Coming To Shreveport
Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is heading back to the Shreveport Convention Center. The dates this year are August 18th through 20th, 2023.
Since its start, Geek'd Con has been one of the premiere comic con style events in the state of Louisiana. The event has generated millions of dollars in economic impact to the Shreveport and Bossier City area. While also bringing in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members, Star Wars icons, Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame members, and horror movie legends.
Tickets for this year are available here.
The 2023 Geek'd Con lineup features a ton of amazing talent. Including a Grammy Award winner, and Olympic Gold Medalist, an NFL Hall of Fame member, and multiple Disney icons. Not to mention guests from some of the biggest franchises in the world...like Scooby-Doo, Pokémon, and Harry Potter.
These celebrity guests come to Downtown Shreveport to meet fans, sign autographs, and take pictures.
At this year's show, you will be able to meet multiple stars from various View Askew productions...known as the View Askewniverse. Here are some of the guests you can look forward to:
Jason Mewes
Mewes is best known as the loud mouthed half of Jay and Silent Bob from multiple movies in Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse.
First debuting in the 1994 film Clerks, he returned to the charecter in 1995's Mallrats. Then again in the films Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and Clerks III.
He also voiced his Jay charecter in Clerks: The Animated Series and Jay & Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie. While also having cameo a role as Jay in Scream 3.
His other credits include Vulgar, Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, Degrassi, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Fanboys, The Flash, and Masters of the Universe: Revelation...among others.
He also has multiple video games roles in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Fallout 76.
Brian O'Halloran
O'Halloran also appeared in more View Askew productions as Dante's cousins. Including Gill Hicks in Mallrats, Jim Hicks in Chasing Amy, and Grant Hicks in Dogma.
He was also the lead in Vulgar, playing the titular character.
You can also catch his work in Pokémon: Black & White, The Happening, Brutal Massacre, and Madness in the Method.
Jeff Anderson
Best known as Randal Graves from Clerks, Clerks 2, Clerks 3, and Clerks: The Animate Series, Jeff Anderson has appeared in various View Askew productions. Outside of playing Randal, Anderson has appeared in Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Vulgar, and Dogma.
Anderson has also worked on projects outside of the View Askewniverse, including voicing Smug in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He also wrote, directed, and starred in the 2002 film Now You Know. Anderson received a nomination for Best Male Performance at the Chicago Film Festival for his role in Love 101 in 2000.
Harley Quinn Smith
Smith has been apart of the View Askewniverse since 2001. Appearing in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, Jersey Girl, Clerks 2, Yoga Hosers, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and Clerks 3.
Her most notable role in the View Askewniverse is Millennium "Milly" Faulken, the daughter of Jay from the Jay & Silent Bob duo.
In addition to her View Askew work, Smith has appeared in projects like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, KillRoy Was Here, and Tusk.
Marilyn Ghigliotti
Marilyn is best known as Veronica Loughran in the original Clerks film. A role she reprised for the recent Clerks 3 release. Not to mention she played herself in 2019's Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.
She also appeared in the "biographical-comedy-drama" Shooting Clerks, where she also served as Associate Producer.
Ming Chen
Perhaps best known as one of the stars of AMC's The Comic Book Men, Ming Chen has become one of the most lovable geeks in the US.
Ming has also appeared in multiple View Askew films, with friend Kevin Smith, including Clerks 3, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, Vulgar, Dogma, and Jay and Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie.
Now Ming has built a podcast empire with his A Shared Universe podcast network.
But these aren't the only Geek'd Con guests who have been involved with View Askewneverse, or adjacent, projects. One really big name on the list did a Kevin Smith movie that was retroactively moved into the View Askewneverse.
Brandon Routh
Though Routh is best known for his superpowered roles as Superman (twice), The Atom, and Todd from Scott Pilgrim vs The World, he worked on the Kevin Smith film Zack and Miri Make a Porno as well. In the film he played Robert "Bobby" Long, and even though Bobby doesn't return to another View Askew film, his boyfriend from the first movie does. Which then "retcons" his first appearance in a Kevin Smith movie into the greater View Askewneverse.
You can catch all of these amazing guests at Geek'd Con 2023. Tickets are on sale now, and you can get yours here.
