This is probably the only 80's movie that is untouchable.

Why remake good movies? Well, we know the answer to that...Dollar. Dollar...Bills, y'all.

Thankfully, Robert Zemeckis is a really smart guy. The studio doesn't own Back to the Future, so they can't just up and decide they want to make money with a remake or reboot.

In the original deal between Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, who co-wrote the trilogy, and Universal Studios, Zemeckis and Gale own Back to the Future. And here's what Zemeckis had to say in an interview when asked about the possibility of a remake of the classic trilogy:

Oh, God no. That can’t happen until both Bob and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it.

I mean, to me, that’s outrageous. Especially since it’s a good movie. It’s like saying ‘Let’s remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane?’ What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?

I know it's a bit heavy to compare BTTF with Citizen Kane, but it shows how passionately he feels about keeping the series integrity intact.

Obviously, Zemeckis and Gale sign off on everything from video games, theme park attractions, and merchandise, but that all has to do with the original movies, and characters.

Zemeckis is only 64, so, with fingers crossed, he's got a couple of more decades to go before a studio can even THINK about trying to remake Back to the Future.
