NASA has just announced that the Sun's magnetic field is about to pull a clean 180 as it's electromagnetism flips and changes polarity. This is supposed to happen in the next few months. Yeah, that got my attention my too. However, NASA says we have nothing to worry about.

"It looks like we're no more than three to four months away from a complete field reversal," Todd Hoeksema, a solar physicist and director of Stanford University's Wilcox Solar Observatory, said in a statement released by the agency. "This change will have ripple effects throughout the solar system."

NASA says this is a big event for the solar system, but rather routine regarding the Sun's relationship to us. The magnetic flip takes place at the peak of each solar cycle every 11 years. So, it's been happening a lot quite routinely, and it's had no effect of on us. WHEW!
